Hi Crystal. Congrats on the kitchen upgrade!

If the microwave is an over-the-range microwave, it will hold no problem. Are you installing it yourself? In the included hardware, there is a metal track that you mount to the wall. (Try to hit 2 studs when screwing it to the wall) The Microwave sits on this track (where most of the weight is distributed). It acts like a hinge. You set the back of the microwave in the track and then swing the top-front of the microwave up to meet your new cabinet. There are two bolts through the bottom of the cabinet into the microwave that hold it in place. Keep in mind when installing your new cabinet that, per code, the bottom of the cabinet needs to be at least 30 inches from the top of the stove. Good luck with your new kitchen!

Hi shebha - Thanks for the cabinet compliment! First, check the insides of a few of your existing cabinets for their current brand. This will help match brand, door-front style, and stain color. Second, be sure to measure the width and height for the new cabinet. (You will need to maintain a certain height between your range and the bottom of the microwave to stay within code) I actually found a local kitchen and bath store (<a href="http://www.1supply.com/gerhards/default.aspx" rel="nofollow">Gerhards</a>) that sold the cabinet I needed. They were great to work with and the cabinet only cost around $90. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Good Luck with your project!

Hi Jess Boone- This is the first time I am really exploring your blog. Pretty cool! And hey, great job on the over the stove project. -- Do you hire out? : ) You guys are doing some neat things. The 'mini cooper' story was great too! -- Not much new with me. Carrie and Mark or atleast Carrie is starting to get excited about coming back to the Midwest. I think they will enjoy putting a home together and doing all those homeowner activities. It will be great to have them closer by. take care !
